Next Big Thing Blog Hop

Thanks to the wonderful Sandy Wright for nominating me to participate in the Next Big Thing Blog Hop. The blog hop highlights new releases and introduces other authors.

Sandy Wright is an award-winning author of paranormal and romantic suspense novels, poetry and short fiction. Her newest novel is Song of the Ancients, set in the magical red rocks of Sedona, Arizona.

What is the working title of your book?  Evil’s Unlikely Assassin

Where did the idea come from for the book?   This is so cliché, but it came from a dream.  The idea that a vampire would hate her status in life, crave the humanity that was stolen from her, and do anything to have it returned.

What genre does your book fall under?  Urban Fantasy

What actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?  My Pinterest page is full of pictures that I use for inspiration when I write my characters, so this one is easy.  Lily Collins as Alexis.  She has the perfect look, sweet, sexy, enticing.  Vin Diesel as Reaper, tough as nails, and built like a tank.  Chris Pine as Julian Monroe, Alexis’ love interest, my idea of sexy.  Billy Idol, if he could act as Nathan.

What’s a one-sentence synopsis of your book?  Armed with an insatiable blood lust, a vampire-hating sidekick and a chip on her shoulder, Alexis Black rids Chicago of evil, one bloodsucker at a time.

How long did it take to write the first draft of the manuscript?  The first draft took forever, but that was my fault.  I kept walking away to work on other things.  When I came back to it, it took me less than four weeks to get it all written out.  Now editing…well, that might take me forever.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agencyIn my dreams, hopes, and prayers I’ll be represented by an agent.  In reality we’ll see.

What other books would you compare this story to in your genre?  Jay Wells, The Sabina Kane series.  I can only hope to have her career someday, but she has been an inspiration to me.

Thanks for joining me today. It’s my pleasure to introduce you to three amazing authors joining the tour.
